“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
— Matthew 11:28
Coming off the holidays and New Year can leave you with an overwhelming mix of emotions. Some feel a complete sense of loss. For weeks, they have been organizing, planning, wrapping, and preparing only to find themselves with nothing left to accomplish. Others feel exhausted and completely unsure where to turn to reenergize. Still some simply battle the post holiday blues for no discernible reason.
As Christians, we know there is nothing more special during the holidays than the celebration of the Savior’s birth. This precious child was sent to save our souls by His Father – a gift of the ultimate sacrifice. So, why is it that we still struggle with perplexing emotions in spite of this celebratory moment?
The reality is we are still human. We still fight against human emotions and thoughts, even when we know that we have already received the ultimate gift. However, we do not have to struggle alone. The gift we received at Christmas ensures we can work through our human emotions with the strength and support of our Savior.
Whatever burden you have been carrying, it is time to lay it down. Approach the altar of God in humble supplication with the full confidence that He will calm your weary soul and restore your spirit.
